Who We Are

The research arm of Lurie Children’s, Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute helps us provide cutting-edge treatments and discover more effective ways to prevent and diagnose conditions that affect children’s health.

Our physicians and scientists are also faculty at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, our academic partner. Working closely together, our hospital, research institute and medical school train the next generation of pediatric specialists while advancing children's healthcare.

Trauma-informed Care

Colleen Cicchetti, PhD, and the Center for Childhood Resilience worked with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and U.S. Representative Danny Davis to develop the Trauma-Informed Care for Children and Families Act, which is designed to address the toxic stress and trauma that impacts many children from Chicago’s most violent neighborhoods. As well as seeing patients, our physicians engage in scholarly activities, teach or sit on committees; similarly, our scientists conduct research and also pursue other scholarly activities. Gal Finer, MD, PhD, Receives National Kidney Foundation of Illinois Research Grant

Gal Finer, MD, PhD, has received a Research Grant for the Young Investigator from the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. The title of her project is "Elucidating the Role of Transcription Factor 21 in Kidney Development - Implications for Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract". Finer is an attending physician in the Division of Kidney Diseases​ at Lurie Children's and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics​ at the Feinberg School​.
